The Rules
Here's all the gory details:
The pool lasts the duration of the regular season. First prize is
bragging rights and a puck - not just any puck, but a beat-up old rogue
puck which was shot over the boards by some team and given up for
lost!!!
Standings will be updated automagically each morning.
You can make one trade each calendar month starting in April.
Basically you trade one player for another in the same group and you
only get points for the player while he's in your lineup (you get the
idea). You can't accumulate trades - you use it each month or lose it.
Just use the trade form underneath the standing
This will give you a bit of hindsight, the trade will be based on
the points in the standings at the time of your trade - if you know a
guy had a big night, you can get those points by making a trade for him
before the standings get updated.
The 'Points Adjustment' mentioned in the above stats is simply the
point differences for players involved in trades that have
been made. For instance, if you traded a player with 15 points for a
player with 5 points, the 'Points Adjustment' would have 10 added to
it. This way, in order to find the grand total for your team, we simply
need to sum the points for the current players in each of the
groups and add the 'Points Adjustment' value... make sense? Just keep
in mind that you only get points for players in your lineup, so this is
simply a number we need to add or subtract from your team total to make
this happen. Anyway, the main thing is that when you make a trade,
your overall team points will not change .
Any trades you make will show up in the standings the next time
they are updated (at least once a day).
If in the company of another poolster who is trailing you in the
standings, you must make some attempt at ribbing or some other form of
light bragging in order to magnify your deep understanding and insights
into this sport and that you are not leading due to dumb luck. At the
same time you might want to point out that your opponent made stupid
picks.
If in the company of another poolster who is ahead of you in the
standings, you must make some attempt to clarify why you are trailing
(ie. injuries, unproductive linemates, dumb luck on your opponents
part, etc). Do not admit that you just made stupid picks.
If in the company of another poolster who is tied with you in the
current standings, you must compliment that person on his/her high
level of understanding and overall astute knowledge of the game and
point out that dumb luck can be the only possible reason for anyone
accumulating more points. At the same time be sure to point out the
stupid picks made by the others who are trailing you in the pool.
