Here's some humble words from the winner:

Team chemistry. It's that undefineable quality that can make a good franchise great. It's that intangible that can render a group of superstars useless. Fans discuss it, GM's strive for it, manager's lament its absence, and yet no one can quite put their finger on what exactly team chemistry is. But whatever it is, man, did I have it or what?!

It took a supreme effort and a mammoth force of will to mold my collection of superstars and wannabes into a working, cohesive, hive-like unit. In the end, though, they held off every challenge with cool determination, acting with singular purpose and a unified mindset. How can you help but fall in love with a team like this?

In conclusion, I would like to thank two groups of people who made this victory possible. First, the players, many of whom still saw it fit to pad their gaudy stats, even when their respective teams were winning by six runs in the eighth inning. And second, my fans. And by fans, I mean the true fans, the ones who were there from the beginning, not just the ones who wanted to see anyone but Terry win again. Thank-you all, you're beautiful. Let's do it again next year.

The Rules

• The pool lasts the duration of the regular season. First prize is bragging rights and a puck - not just any puck, but a beat-up old rogue puck which was shot over the boards by some team and given up for lost!!!
• Standings will be updated automagically each morning about 7am.
• You can make one trade each calendar month starting in June. Basically you trade one player for another in the same group and you only get points for the player while he's in your lineup (you get the idea). You can't accumulate trades - you use it each month or lose it. Email trades to me. Unlike previous years, you won't have any hindsight in the trades. The player 'points adjustment' is based on their current real world stats (not nessarily what shows up on our standings page since those stats lag by about half a day) from the time your email message is sent. Also, if you make a trade involving players while they are involved in a game in progress, the trade will happen after the games are finished.
• The 'Points Adjustment' mentioned in the above stats is simply the sum of the point differences for players involved in trades that have been made. For instance, if you traded a player with 15 points for a player with 5 points, the 'Points Adjustment' would have 10 added to it. This way, in order to find the grand total for your team, we simply need to sum the points for the current players in each of the 16 groups and add the 'Points Adjustment' value... make sense?
• If in the company of another poolster who is trailing you in the standings, you must make some attempt at ribbing or some other form of light bragging in order to magnify your deep understanding and insights into this sport and that you are not leading due to dumb luck. At the same time you might want to point out that your opponent made stupid picks.
• If in the company of another poolster who is ahead of you in the standings, you must make some attempt to clarify why you are trailing (ie. injuries, unproductive linemates, dumb luck on your opponents part, etc). Do not admit that you just made stupid picks.
• If in the company of another poolster who is tied with you in the current standings, you must compliment that person on his/her high level of understanding and overall astute knowledge of the game and point out that dumb luck can be the only possible reason for anyone accumulating more points. At the same time be sure to point out the stupid picks made by the others who are trailing you in the pool.
